Through You Can't Eat Love, I am creating a safe and supportive space where people of all ages and walks of life can come together and discover their very best friend in the whole wide world - themselves. Draw on my experience to stop the cycle of stuffing down your emotions.
I believe anyone can live their best life.
I am always on a journey. My motto is “why not?” I measure things I want to do against the yardstick of “when I am 80 years old, I don’t want to be sitting in my rocking chair on my front porch saying, ‘I wish I would have’”.
Like so many others (and maybe even you), I came to a very low point where I looked at my life and did not like what I saw. I decided to make a choice. I chose to get healthy – mentally, emotionally, and physically.
When asked, I will tell you if I had known how hard the work would be, I might have made a different choice. But, knowing what I know now, I am grateful I kept doing the hard work of the hard work.
My books and other writing come from the lessons and self-discovery on my journey to living my best life. The way I write is the same way I speak so you feel as if you are having a conversation with a friend. My writing is honest and relatable because I want YOU to know I have been there. I want you to know I am real and not writing from a lot of books and theories.
By doing the hard work of learning to love myself, discovering my very best friend in the whole wide world and embracing forgiving myself, I lost almost 100lbs, kept it off and am living my best life. I no longer rely on my drug of choice (food) to numb the emotions I was afraid to experience.
Now, life is one grand adventurous journey from scuba diving to beekeeping. From riding on an elephant in Africa to riding in a hot air balloon in New Mexico. And so much more in between.
My passions, besides my family, are GUTaS International and my heart family in Zimbabwe – especially Mercy, Betty and Itai. GUTaS stands for Get Up, Take a Step. GUTaS is changing lives one step, one stitch at a time.
When my husband and children ask “Why?” I always responds, “Why not?”
“If we have our own why in life, we can get along with almost any how.”
Friedrich Nietzsche
My favorite moment was when a reader commented to me "you are a real person?"
Yes, I am a very real person. Very much like you. I went on this journey to share my story with you because I realized how many more 'me's' there are in the world.
I am so grateful to you for reading and learning from my story. I love to hear from you about how my crazy ideas have helped you live your best life.
Please reach out and let me know how I can help you as you run into traffic jams and struggle to stay in your car, not park it, not get out and not walk home.
You are enough,
Leslie
